The Living Waters Program

Can People With Personal Or Relational
Struggles Really Change?

Thankfully Jesus Christ is willing, able and committed to heal and transform us, regardless of the specifics of our struggle.

“Whoever believes in me...streams of Living Water will flow from within Him” (John 7:38)

What is Living Waters?
Living Waters is an in-depth, Christ-centered healing, teaching and discipleship program of Arise Urban Ministries. The Living Waters Program is a vital tool for the church and para-church ministries as it reaches across denominations and cultures. Established by Desert Stream Ministries over 20 years ago Living Waters is now in over 30 countries. It has equipped church leaders around the world to minister the gospel in all its depth and power.

"I was cynical and scared at the onset of this program but God steadily won me, blessed and challenged me, Thank you! "
(Living Waters attendee)

Who is Living Waters for?
Living Waters offers hope and healing to everyone, but it is particularly relevant to those struggling with an inner emptiness, emotional-dependency, codependency, self-hatred, difficulty giving or receiving love, sexual addiction, homosexuality, or the effects of sexual abuse. Thankfully Christ's capacity to touch and restore us at deep levels extends to all of us, regardless of the specifics of our issue.

How is Living Waters presented?
The Living Waters Program is taught in a closed group format. All leaders have been trained and a confidentiality policy is in place to help ensure trust and safety in the group. Each meeting includes:

The Worship of Jesus - We focus our attention and praise on God rather than on our problem.

The Words of Jesus - Teachings combine biblical truths and psychological insights that are in line with the scriptures. The teaching is presented in dynamic and creative ways to help us to know God, others and ourselves better.

The Works of Jesus - Through healing prayer in large and small group settings; we invite the Holy Spirit to heal our various wounds. We bring our sins, and those committed against us, to the Lord who is faithful to set us free.

Foundational to the Living Waters Program is the reality that God created us in His image as male and female. Therefore we value men and women working out their healing together. Great healing comes as men and women minister and receive alongside one another, thereby reflecting God's intention and character. (Although small groups are same sex, both genders participate together in worship, teaching, and prayer in the large group.)

What will I learn?
The Living Waters Program uses a detailed workbook, which helps us move from brokenness to maturity. The workbook includes teachings, and homework questions. We also distribute and recommend additional material that are pertinent to the topic at hand. Some topics addressed include:

• Acknowledging our need for God
• Receiving the Father's love
• The cross and confession and forgiveness
• Renouncing our idols
• Reconciliation between men and women
• Roots of gender brokenness
• Healing from sexual abuse
• Restoring the true self through the cross
• Understanding and overcoming temptation
• Overcoming sexual addiction
• Embracing the church as our healing community
• Walking as mature Christians

How to Apply
Please consider the following requirements and whether or not they describe your own readiness of heart:

• A desire to allow Christ to reveal His intentions for your life.
• A willingness to be open and honest with others about your emotional, sexual and/or relational brokenness, as well as areas of identity and emotional immaturity.
• A willingness to receive the healing ministry of the Holy Spirit in these deep areas.
• A desire and willingness to walk free and find loving relationships within the Body of Christ.

If the timing is right, we pray the Lord compels you to be a part of this healing work.

"My relationship with God deepened. I changed. I was able to forgive and move on something I thought would never be possible."

The Living Waters Program is presented as a church wide ministry, encouraging participants to actively involve themselves in the relationships and services of their respective church. Arise Urban Ministries is a non-profit 501(c)(3) ministry committed to bringing wholeness to the Body of Christ at large. We invite all who seek healing to participate in this program or any of our other programs for youth and adults.
