Leadership Training and Development 

 Nicholas Rowe and Sheila Wise Rowe are increasingly being sought as speakers, trainers and mentors for  leadership development and training throughout the African continent.  The following is a list of the  engagements over this past year:

  1. Every Nation School of Community Development, Cape Town, South AfricaSheila taught an inaugural module of this new school.  The module, Christian Counseling Skills for Community Development Workers, equips learners to respond more holistically to the needs of those they serve.
  1. Africa Peace Institute, Kitwe, Zambia—Nick has taught the module Reconciliation: Theory and Praxis over the past two years, providing theological grounding for people involved in reconciliation efforts in the hot spots of conflict throughout Africa. 
  1. His People Christian Church Men’s and Women’s Ministry, Johannesburg, South AfricaNick and Sheila have been involved in formal and informal ministry and mentoring to young leaders in the congregation.  The vast majority of them are university students, who are seen as the country’s future leaders. 
  1. National Catholic School Principal’s Conference, Johannesburg, South Africa—Nick has been invited to address this national conference on the subject of “Spirituality for Leadership.”  It is an opportunity to articulate biblical models of leadership in the educational sector, a strategic realm within the South African context. 
  1. Institute of Urban Ministry Biennial Consultation, Pretoria, South AfricaNick was invited to give a workshop on “A new professionalism for the urban practitioner,” inviting those in urban ministry to consider how they pursue their calling to ministry in the city in healthier ways. 
  1. Regional Peace Network, based in Johannesburg, with work throughout the African continent—Nick has been involved with this group, working with the Mennonite Central Committee in efforts to bring biblical peace building and community development to various places of social instability in Southern Africa. 
  1. Masiphane Projects, Johannesburg, South Africa—Sheila is a member of the executive committee that manages this non-governmental organization serving as the social welfare arm of His People Christian Church in Johannesburg.
