Malibongwe Mother and Child
Haven
Malibongwe,
Mother and Child Haven is an eighteen-month intensive residential
bridge
program between homelessness and permanent housing.
It is a place where women
are empowered and fully equipped in order to become
independent
and maintain their own
household now and in the future. It is
also a place
for children to receive
healing and needed support to live more
abundant
lives in the future.
Malibongwe,
Mother
and Child Haven serves:
- Mothers
and children who were
formerly homeless
- Young ladies who at age 18 have
transitioned out of Rhema Children’s Village
Each adult resident
receives:
- Individual and
group peer counselling
- Life and
parenting skills
- Advocacy around
accessing needed social services.
- Educational
support
- Art,
Crafts and Entrepreneurial training
- Job skills and computer training
- Spiritual
Growth group
- Assistance with
acquisition of part-time jobs.
- Assistance with
acquisition of permanent housing upon completion of the program
Each
child receives:
- Support and
encouragement from strong stable adults
- Academic
tutoring
- Education and
Play group for crèche age children
- Life skills
training
Malibongwe
is a
program of CDPT and Masiphane Projects registered NPOs which are
the compassionate arms of His People Christian Church located
in Parktown North, Johannesburg, South Africa.
